Access to the right information is undoubtedly a very important place in the age of technology and informatics. Because the development of nations in this age is directly proportional to how accurate and proper they can use the information.
Science and engineering sciences that enable the shaping of technology. However, the main source of the information used in this shaping is the most important main science of mathematics. It is possible to list the qualities of mathematics in taking this importance as follows:
Accuracy is certain.
It is general.
It is abstract.
Mathematics serves as the field of application of general logic and human intelligence in this way. Also; it is the basis of mechanics, physics, astronomy etc. In addition, mathematics is widely required and widely used in areas such as social sciences, medicine, geology, psychology, sociology and business administration.
Large industry and its subsidiaries, and employment services that is in the front line in today's civilization are always done with the help of mathematics. For this reason, mathematics, which is the most abstract science, also affects second-hand practical life. It can be said that knowing the history of a science that we face in every stage of our daily life should be the basis of understanding the importance of mathematics.
The students of the Department of Mathematics are lectured various subjects of mathematics such as real and complex analysis, topology and functional analysis, probability and statistics, differential equations and numerical analysis during their 4-year undergraduate education, and courses on various subjects of mathematics are offered to other departments of the university in case of needs.
Language of instruction is Turkish. Candidate students from outside Turkey and who do not speak Turkish are started Turkish language preparatory class.
By academic years of the 2019-2020, there are 1 professor, 8 associate professors, 3 assistant proffesors, 3 doctor research assistants and 3 research assistants in our departments. Undergraduate program in our department consists of 8 semesters. There are compulsory and elective courses in these semesters. Our aim in graduate education is to conduct research at national and international level with our students and to present the acquired knowledge to the benefit of humanity.
Graduates of the Mathematics Department gain the title of Mathematician. A mathematician is assigned a faculty member in the related departments of the faculties of universities, a branch teacher provided that he has a master's degree in public and private schools, a computer programmer. In short, they can participate in all related areas of mathematics.
